Heyya! My name is Aaron Wahl, but you can also just call me "AWOL". It's been my nickname since the fifth grade and has naturally become the brand name for my guitar pedals. I've been building and designing effects for 11 years, and in 2017, I decided to start AWOL Pedals! It very quickly became my obsession with a goal of making unique pedals that pack a lot of sound into a small, pedalboard-friendly package.
Simplicity within guitar effects is one of my favorite things, and I tend to love it when a guitar pedal gets out of your way and lets you get to making music. The one-knob design spawned out of this philosophy, but with the added benefit of having it on the north face of the pedal, where it can't accidentally be bumped when hitting the bypass stomp switch. What I was left with were compact, beautiful sounding, square pedals!
I put a lot of passion into developing the sounds and making my pedals inspiring and fun to play. Beautiful design and build quality are paramount for me. For this reason, every pedal is entirely assembled and tested by me, from my home in Nashville, Tennessee, before being shipped to your door. The process is very hands on, and I'm brought joy by crafting each and every step with my own two hands. This is what a boutique guitar pedal is to me, and I hope you love it and feel the spark of musical creativity from the moment it gets in your hands! :)
